Pak Lah Diserang Virus Brontok

Virus ini telah meng’take over’ komputer anda tanpa anda sedari.

1. Adili Koruptor, Penyeludup, Tukang Suap, Penjudi, & Bandar NARKOBA( Send to "
NUSAKAMBANGAN")
2. Stop Free Sex, Absorsi, & Prostitusi
3. Stop (pencemaran laut & sungai), pembakaran hutan & perburuan liar.
4. SAY NO TO DRUGS !!!

What Stephen Doss Did ? Article 5 - Your 'First Hand Information'?

[Sources From Stephen Doss Blog - 10th June 2008]

The Tun Salleh Saga - an open reply to Dr Mahathir

Dr Mahathir, I read with considerable interest your blog on the Tun Salleh Saga. To a certain degree, I must confess, I am happy for you have obviously regained your memory after having a momentary lapse of the same during the proceeding of the Royal Commission on the Lingam tape.

I must confess that I was not moved to post anything about the Tun Salleh issue as everybody and his dog has apparently written about it. However, after having read your latest boot-leg version, I am compelled to write this reply, just to put things on record and in proper perspective.

It is quite obvious that you have mastered the fine art of manipulation. When everything else fails, what better way than to stoke racial sentiment in order to gain support. That was what you were doing in Johore Bahru recently when you quite irresponsibly pointed out that the Malays are the ones who would lose out if the IDR project were to continue. You then quickly followed it up in Japan when you again reminded the Malays to unite and be strong because, according to you, other races are now asking for many things and questioning Malay rights. Samuel Johnson's "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" would normally be a cliche to repeat, but in your case, I would make an exception. Just change the word "patriotism" to "racialism" and you would, hopefully, catch my drift.

When the issue of an apology to Salleh Abas was started by Zaid Ibrahim, I remember you were quoted as saying that Salleh Abas was sacked by the tribunal and so an apology should be sought from the tribunal.

How very convenient of you, Dr M. Of course you had conveniently overlooked the fact that the tribunal was established at your advice as the then Prime Minister. And so now, in your blog, you have revealed the truth. The truth, according to you, is that the King had wanted Salleh Abas removed because His Majesty was angry with Salleh Abas' letter complaining about His Majesty's renovation work. So, are you now blaming the King, may I ask? That is the first question which came across my mind while reading your post.

The second question is this. Since when have you become a Royalist so much so that you were almost paralysingly subservient to the King? The King had wanted Salleh Abas, the Lord President, sacked because of a letter over some noises made in a renovation work, and you followed it up with a tribunal established under our primary law, the Federal Constitution? You wanted us to believe that you, the then Prime Minister, the very same Prime Minister who amended the Federal Constitution to curb the powers of the King and the Malay Rulers, had agreed to establish the tribunal at the behest of the King? Since when has Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the fearless Prime Minister, who took away the necessity for Royal assents to any bill of law before it could effectively be the law of the country by amending the Federal Constitution, had suddenly become so subservient to the King in relation to the sacking of Salleh Abas?

The third question is glaring to people in the know. It is, of course, not there for every supporters of yours to see, as we could well surmise from the majority of the comments made in your blog on the issue. The question is this. Why was it that Salleh Abas was not charged over THAT letter? If what you said was true, why wasn't Salleh Abas charged for writing such a letter to the King and carbon copying it to all the Rulers? WHY?

If the King had wanted Salleh Abas sacked for being rude to His Majesty, why is it that Salleh Abas not charged for being rude to our King? W.H.Y.??? Why is it that only now, 20 years later, suddenly, this letter has appeared and becomes an issue? Is it a case of you forgetting about that letter in 1988, just as you have forgotten about some events during the Lingam tape hearing, and suddenly rediscovering your memory last week about the same letter?

Coincidently, your former secretary, Matthias Chang, has spoken about this letter in his blog sometime in the past weeks.

By the way, during the constitutional crisis caused by your belligerent attitude towards the King and the Malay Rulers, I remember the state mass media, that is the newspapers and RTM, had even belittled the King and the Malays Rulers. The whole propaganda machine was used to smear the King and the Malay Rulers. Pictures of their palaces and mansions were shown on TV and in the newspapers. Stories about their wrongdoings were splashed in newspapers.

Even Sultan of Kedah's house in Penang did not escape your propaganda machine. RTM would proceed to air old Malay movies about how stupid the Malay Rulers in ancient days were. Films like Nujum Pak Belalang, Hang Tuah and Dang Anum were aired just to shape the people's thoughts about how bad the King and the Malay Rulers were or could be.

And yet, you now want us to believe that you were just doing what the King had wanted you to do by establishing the tribunal against Salleh Abas? Stretching your argument that Salleh Abas had to go because the King said so, why didn't you sack yourself, your whole cabinet and everybody else who had then partaken in the whole process of smearing the good name and dignity of our King and the Malay Rulers? Why only Salleh Abas?

Dr M, sometimes, one's stupidity is most glaring in one's thought that everybody else is stupid! You then mention in your blog that it was your opinion that Salleh Abas had committed wrongdoings and that he was not fit to be a Judge. If that was the case, may I respectfully ask why is it that you had not deemed it fit to establish a tribunal against a certain Lord President who was photographed with a certain lawyer overseas? Wouldn't that constitute a wrongdoing?

That fact was, I am sure, known to you as it was widely discussed in the media during your premiership. It was even investigated by the ACA. Or how about the ACA investigation which showed that a certain lawyer had written a certain judgment for a certain Judge? Wouldn't that be a wrongdoing which would, if substantiated, render the Judge unfit to continue be a Judge? Why only Salleh Abas? Why not these Judges? Or is it a case of you having forgotten what they did just as you have forgotten several events during the Linggam tape proceedings, again?

You now charge, as you have always charged, that the judiciary, had interfered in the administration of the country. Your disdain for the law, lawyers and judiciary is well documented. Dr M, I remember clearly in one speech, you likened the lawyers to vultures. But of course, you would now say it was all in jest.

Your contempt for the law and judiciary, every time the judiciary made a decision against you or your government is almost peerless. You would deem such decision as interference with the administration. Although you know that the administration consists of 3 different, but essential, arms, namely, the legislature, executive and judiciary, you failed miserably to understand their respective functions and duties. The phrase "check and balance" was missing from your administrative lexicon which was probably reprinted with an express instruction from you to delete the same.

Thus, history will show that you were so upset and angry with the judiciary that you had instigated another Constitutional amendment to take away "judicial powers" from the judiciary! May I point out Dr M, that Malaysia would be the only country in the whole Commonwealth (I say Commonwealth because I am not accustomed to non-Commonwealth systems) whose judiciary does not have judicial powers unless the legislature says so. Coincidentally of course, who controlled the legislature? That was, and I surmise, still is, your idea of a democracy.

Remember what I said above about stupidity? Let me repeat it. One's stupidity is most glaring in one's thought that everybody else is stupid! You somewhat deny that the sacking of Salleh Abas had anything to do with the UMNO 11 appeal which was then fixed by Salleh Abas to be heard by a full bench of 9 Judges on 13.6.1988. Events will show, at least on a balance of probability, otherwise.

Salleh Abas was served with a letter of suspension on 27.5.1988. Abdul Hamid Omar became the Acting Lord President. I will come back to this character later in this post.

On that very day, namely, 27.5.1988, on which Salleh Abas was suspended, Abdul Hamid Omar, as Acting Lord President, acting without any application by any party named in the UMNO 11 appeal, adjourned the appeal to a date to be fixed later. Why? For what reason? Why the haste? Nobody knows. That appeal was later fixed for hearing on 8.8.1988 before only 5 judges comprising of 3 Supreme Court Judges, including Abdul Hamid Omar himself and 2 High Court Judges. Not 9 as originally fixed by Salleh Abas.

How could a valid decision by a Lord President, which was made prior to his suspension, be reversed by an Acting Lord President is quite beyond me or my intellect to comprehend, let alone answer. And quite why the appeal was to be heard by a corum of 3 Supreme Court Judges and 2 High Court Judges, instead of all Supreme Court Judges, is also beyond my tiny brain's ability to understand. I am sure you wouldn't remember this fact Dr M. Otherwise, I am sure you would have stated it in your post.

If the sacking had nothing to do with the UMNO 11 appeal, why, may I ask, is that the first official act of the Acting Lord President was to postpone the hearing of that particular appeal? Why did he then proceed to overturn a valid act of the Lord President, who was then still a Lord President, albeit the fact that he was suspended? Why?

Salleh Abas made a statement to the press after his suspension. In the statement, he alluded to a meeting on 25.5.1998 with you, in the presence of the Chief Secretary, Salehuddin Mohamad, where you allegedly told him (Salleh Abas) that he was to be removed because, among others, of his bias in the UMNO 11 appeal. Salehuddin Mohamad was a witness at the tribunal. He said he was taking notes during the said meeting. While he could remember writing down only 2 matters in the note book during the meeting, namely, Salleh Abas' speech and his letter to the King (about your attack of the judiciary and not about the renovation issue), he only managed to say that he cannot remember that you had mentioned the UMNO case during the meeting when asked by the tribunal members. If he was so sure that he only took down notes about the aforesaid 2 matters in his notebook, why then he could not EXPRESSLY deny that you had mentioned about the UMNO case during the said meeting? Why can't he remember? And, in a show of embarrassing shallowness on the part of the tribunal, it FAILED to ask Salehuddin to produce the notebook! Why? It would appear that your Chief Secretary was clearly suffering from the same disease as yours namely, partial and momentary lapse of memory.

On the balance of probability therefore, your contention that the sacking of Salleh Abas did not have anything to do with the UMNO case under appeal is flawed, to say the least. Why don't you state all these facts in your blog Dr M? And let the people who read it judge the matter after having been fed with all relevant facts. Not with facts which you think are relevant. Not with facts which you choose to remember for your own purpose and objectives.

I have reserved my comment about Abdul Hamid Omar. Now is the time for me to say something about him. This was the man who was effectively Salleh Abas' subordinate. He became Acting Lord President when Salleh Abas was suspended. He was also next in line to be the Lord President, in the event Salleh Abas was sacked. History will show that he did replace Salleh Abas after his sacking. How could he then head the tribunal? He was obviously conflicted out from being in the tribunal. Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done. Haven't you heard of that? Or have you forgotten about it? Or is it a case that you did not really care?

Salleh Abas was then charged, among others, for writing a letter to the King date 26.3 1988. For the benefit of those readers who don't really know the facts, this was not the letter complaining about the renovation. As I had said it, the renovation letter was never mentioned in any of the charges. The letter dated 26.3.1988 was a letter by Salleh Abas to the King to inform the King that Dr M had been attacking the judiciary. I will not touch on the merit or demerit of this letter. But what Dr M had failed to realise, or rather, what Dr M had ignored was the fact that this letter was written by Salleh Abas after all the Judges had a meeting on 25.3.1988. Even the Chairman of the tribunal, the aforesaid Abdul Hamid Omar, was present during the said meeting. In more ways than one, the said letter was a collective result of the Judges' meeting, including that of Abdul Hamid Omar, the Chairman of the tribunal.

Two questions arise here Dr M. Firstly, stretching your contention that Salleh Abas had to be removed because of that letter as well as the renovation letter to its own logical conclusion, why didn't you suspend all the Judges who attended the meeting of 25.3.1988 and institute the same proceeding, with a view of dismissing all of them? That would be its reasonable conclusion as the letter was a collective result. Secondly, how could Abdul Hamid Omar, be a part of the tribunal, let alone its Chairman when he was obviously a potential witness? But then again, the 2nd question is borne out of a legal point, and so I don't expect you to understand it, let alone grasp it.

Allow me to also set out the exact facts and events around the same time Salleh Abas was charged. In 1986, you, as Home Minister cancelled the work permit of 2 Asian Wall Street Journal journalists in Malaysia. They brought the matter to the Court and the Supreme Court held that your action was illegal and therefore invalid. You were upset. IN TIME magazine (issue of 24.11.1986), you expressed your displeasure. Contempt proceedings were brought against you by the opposition. You escaped as the proceedings were dismissed by the Court. However, the learned Judge remarked in his judgment that you were confused at the doctrine of separation of powers.

Later, in a speech to law students, the same Judge said that the process of appointing senators should be by way of an election. You mistook, as usual, this speech as a challenge and interference in politics when all the learned Judge was doing was expressing his own personal opinion over a matter which was not entirely political but also legal as well. Of course you then had to accuse "certain Judges" as interfering with politics. You then began a series of unwarranted attacks against the judiciary at a level and intensity as yet unseen in Malaysian history. What would you do if you were Salleh Abas, the Lord President? Take all the attacks lying down while waiting for pension?

You failed to appreciate his duty as the Lord President. He was the chief of the judiciary, an essential branch of the country's administration system. As much as you were the head of the executive, so was Salleh Abas the head of the judiciary. He had to defend the very institution which he then headed. He convened a meeting of Judges on 25.3.1988 and collectively they decided to write a letter to the King about all the attacks leveled against the judiciary. What was so wrong with that? Why, you wanted him to lodge a police report over the matter?

By the way, in the present climate when every other Malay politician is trying to be more Islam than every other Malay and his pussy cats, you, of course, forgot to mention one of the charges against Salleh Abas in your blog for obvious reason. The charge was that Salleh Abas had advocated the acceptance of the Islamic legal system in Malaysia and had re-stated the law along Islamic legal principles against the multi-racial and multi-religious character of our country. Why didn't you mention this in your blog? You forgot? Or is it simply a case of you being afraid of losing the Malay support among your Malay readers if that was published by you in your blog?

Dr M, I am not your supporter. Nor am I Anwar Ibrahim's or Abdullah Badawi's supporter. I am a supporter of truth. In this matter, nobody would know the truth. But if you are persuading people that your version is the truth, I would at least, expect you to lay out the whole story. And let the people, and history, be the judge.

Do you know what the beauty of the Common Law (which we practise)? The beauty is that it is a set of laws common to all the people. That means, when a matter is wrong or right, ultimately, the common people would know. The common people. Me, and your readers.

Kind regards,
Art Harun

What Stephen Doss Did ? Article 4 - Are You Spin Doctor?

[Sources From Bobjots.org - 5th March 2008]

Of Former Comrades And Spin Doctors

Many many moons ago, I was approached by a group of University of Malaya students who were enthusiastic about wanting to bring about positive change in our society and they invited me to tag along. We had the facilities provided by the office of a particular head of department in the university and used it to discuss strategies, make flyers which we proceeded to go around town pasting and putting into mailboxes. Then suddenly the apparent leader of this group of students dropped out of sight.

A few months later, he resurfaced (with a new car and a nice new job) and claimed to represent a national students body which nobody had heard of until then. He took a decidedly pro-establishment stand which got some of us curious.

I think I'll leave it to people like one his former lecturers and others to give an account of the character of this person - the one and only notorious Stephen Doss.

This brings me to the main point of my post. The head of that particular department in the University of Malaya eventually played an active role in the Reformasi movement and was fired from his position in the university. Now for some reason, he too sort of disappeared from sight, notably after the merger of Parti Rakyat Malaysia and Parti KeADILan Nasional (where he was a vice president) and sort of re-emerged again after a while.

Now, I generally have always taken this guy with a pinch of salt (and other condiments if I could find any). I started reading his writings in the days when he was the founding president of Aliran. After many years helming that organisation, he was replaced (or stepped down - I don't remember which) as Aliran's president. He re-emerged as the head of a new organisation called the International Just World Movement and suddenly his positions took a decidedly different swing from what it used to be when he was in Aliran. Hence began my nagging doubts about the integrity and credibility of this guy.

This guy recently appeared in the press claiming with alarm that it would be a "Disaster if Anwar is PM". A non partisan fence-sitting friend of mine sent me the link this morning asking me to evaluate what was said about Anwar (perhaps she was concerned that I was being badly misled).

I wrote her this reply with some anecdotal rebuttals :

Dear XXX,

A lot of these allegations have been dealt with by Anwar over the years :

Bahasa Malaysia -> Bahasa Melayu

In Tunku's time, it was actually known as Bahasa Kebangsaan and the proposal to change the term to Bahasa Malaysia only came about after May 13 as part of the proposal to strenghten national unity.

The term "Bahasa Melayu" was adopted in response to clamour within Umno itself to have it changed. It did not occur overnight but have been part of a long standing campaign since the 1970s.

Non-Chinese Educated Administrators in Chinese Schools

This again is a result of Umno policy. The minister merely executed the policy that was decided collectively by the Cabinet. Interestingly many of those who made the collective decision then still are in the Cabinet today.

On a personal note, I don't see why this is a problem. I didn't understand it then and I still don't understand it now. School administrators are essentially that - administrators. They basically are the liaison between the various state education departments and the school. To open up the recruitment beyond the previously limited scope is not necessarily a bad thing - especially when there were a lot of highlighted cases where administrators could not understand the circulars and letters that were being sent by the departments to the school (those days Chinese educated meant wholly Chinese educated, ie. independent school types).

The same arrangement exists today and I don't see vernacular schools losing out because of it. I think this is more of a manifestation of Chinese prejudice rather than anything else and these people are playing it to the hilt.

Kg Jawa clash

I am afraid Chandra is misinforming here. He failed to mention that Anwar was the only cabinet level minister who actually took the trouble to visit the hot spot and an equally harsh warning was given to the Muslim community to stand down.

The quote was made by a local Umno man and was misattributed to Anwar as contemporary press reports from that period testify to. A closed door dialogue was brokered between the Hindu and Muslim community and the matter was eventually resolved without further bloodshed and police intervention.

Section 21 of the Education Act 1961

We have Keng Yaik's word here that Gerakan fought to repeal it. It was the Opposition that fought tooth and nail to get it repealed and many paid for it with incarceration in Kamunting. Part of Operasi Lalang was due to that. We had MCA and Gerakan acting as apologists as to why Section 21 ought to be retained for national harmony et al and Umno very militant about it.

It was only repealed when there was a fear of a mass exodus of Chinese votes at a time when Malay votes for BN was very shaky (post Anwar).

I'd like to see them actually have a proper unedited dialogue; Opposition as well as Barisan people; which is open to the public - either televised or otherwise. Otherwise, this is a lopsided affair.

While they control the airwaves and the mainstream press with access to millions of Malaysians in the comfort of their living rooms, the Opposition has to contend with speaking to gathered crowds in open spaces, rain notwithstanding, and their own party publications which are subject to limited distribution due to permit restrictions as well as financial limitations.

While the Elections Offences Act places a cap of RM100,000 per candidate in Parliamentary constituencies for campaigning purposes, the Barisan Nasional allocates RM2 million per constituency and gets away scot free due to a loophole (they distribute the monies to component parties as well as state machineries which essentially are used for BN campaigning purposes).

Even this access to the public is severely curtailed after the Elections campaigning period. The various "demonstrations" et al that we've seen - the fact is that a lot of them were ceramahs and public rallies that were violently broken up by the police. When you have 3 - 4000 people gathered in one spot to listen to a public rally, and the police start shooting tear gas and firing their water cannons into the crowd, you are going to have pandemonium and the victims end up being labelled hooligans and terrorists!

To conclude, I think we just need to have a look at how the BN is running their campaign this time? What is the underlying message? That the BN will change things? That the BN will take measures to reverse the abuse that they've been a party to?

I fear the answer has to be an emphatic no. Their underlying message is FEAR. They are playing up the people's fear of the unknown and asking them to settle for much much less. Don't complain so much, because you never know what the Opposition will bring in (then they proceed to tell you what THEY think the Opposition will bring in).

A good rule of thumb during the Elections campaign period is not to read/watch the mainstream media .. period. All pretences of objective news and journalism is dropped during this period and they don't even pretend to be fair and unbiased.

We have a lot of other sources for news and information.

Cheers,
Bob

I know there'll be some who'll claim that I've also been bedazzled by Anwar. Anwar's tenure as Minister of Education spanned the period when I transitioned out of primary school all the way until my Fifth Form. Being fairly politically aware, even as a teenager, I had plenty of reasons to despise this man and for quite a while, I certainly did.

Even after the merger of my party with Parti KeADILan Nasional where some of us were dragged in kicking and screaming (figuratively speaking, of course), my skepticism for Anwar remained and was still alive and well for quite a while after his release from prison. But I reckon that after witnessing quite a few sittings of conversations, as well as seeing his consistent positions, both public and private, it made me warm up to the man a bit.

Honestly speaking, I definitely still have some lingering doubts about Anwar, as I would any other politician. Do I trust Anwar? Heck, I can't even trust myself 100%.

But I've reached a point that I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and entrust the party leadership to him (well as must trust as one delegate's vote in the party's congress can give anyway). I know many people in the party who feel the same way but are willing to give Anwar a shot to see if he delivers.

As he's wont to say, if we don't deliver, kick us out. I think this challenge applies for himself personally as far as his leadership in the party is concerned. At the very least, I'll be taking his word very literally.

Stephen Doss : Pelacur Politik Yang Harus Dimalapkan

Kedua, Stephen Doss, pelacur politik. Ketiga, Khairi Jamaluddin, Melayu celup yang menggadai bangsanya sendiri.

Ketiga-tiga mereka wajar disingkir!

What Stephen Doss Did ? Article 2 - Are You Kelinga?

[Sources From MarGeeMar - 9th June 2008]

Seeing The Splinter In Someone's Eye But Not The Log In Yours!

Gerakan Youth leader Stephen Doss picked up the blog posting of KTEMOC titled 'IS KHALID IBRAHIM UP TO MB'S JOB?' in Malaysiakini and just like KTEMOC, made a vain attempt to run down YAB Tan Sri Khalid and the Pakatan Rakyat. I didn't want to waste my time in putting KTEMOC in his/her place but rather decided to let BN cheerleader Stephen Doss to see 'The Light'. This is what I had to say to him:

Hey Steve, coming from a Gerakan Youth leader, I think trying to paint a negative picture on Pakatan Rakyat won't win you and BN any new converts. After all, what were your achievements during your university days as a student leader? Wanna do something positive? Why not try to find out why your 'Mosquitoman' Koh Tsu Koon and the rest of the BN/Gerakan clowns haven't answered the questions of not only the PR Government of Penang but also the People of Penang regarding the mess the Mosquitoman & Co. left behind when Pakatan Rakyat took over the Government.

This also includes the missing files and shredded documents. We want answers among others, the purchase of Batu Kawan land, PGCC, approval of projects in heritage areas and hillside developments like the Ivory Group Project in Batu Ferringhi, Persatuan Bunga Tanjung and many more!!!

Also, please ask Mosquitoman to stop being a cry baby by claiming every investment that has come and that is to come to Penang is through Gerakan's effort. Maybe, some of it is through Gerakan's effort but to say all of it is, is sheer bullshit! The verdict is out Brother, Gerakan is dead and buried! If I were you Steve, I would not waste my time in Gerakan especially since it is a racist Chinese party. No place for a 'Kelinga' like you brother. I'm sure you know one of the reasons why Rhina Bhar saw The Light and left Gerakan. No point re-inventing something that is dead and buried. Join Pakatan Rakyat instead.

What Stephen Doss Did ? Article 1 - Conspiracy With Khairy Jamaluddin?

[Sources From Suara Rakyat - 3rd October 2007]

Did Khairy also hijack the “Free Burma” demonstration?

Khairy Jamaluddin, the infamous son-in-law of the PM, seems to have perfected the art of hijacking highly visible political events for which he has no moral right to claim credits.

Take, for example, the highly hyped 50th Merdeka celebration at the end of last August. After making some historically false claims of Umno being the sole “winner”of this nation’s independence (“Where were the opposition when we won the independence?”) Khairy and his father-in-law actually enacted the roles of the independence heroes during the ceremonies.

On two occasions, Khairy did the honour of unfurling the Malaysian flag and of leading the procession of youths to present a capsule – to be opened 50 years later –to the PM. The latter even shouted “Merdeka!” seven times, exactly as the Tunku did fifty years ago.

Last Monday (October 1, 2007), Khairy once again demonstrated his extraordinary talent in “political hijack”. This time the occasion was a demonstration – in support of the “saffron revolution” that is going on in Burma – which was supposedly organised by 14 youth NGOs and political parties.

The main organisers from among the NGOs, however, at the crucial moment of the demonstration abdicated to Khairy the honour of reading and presenting the protest note at the Burmese embassy – the duty that was initially to have been assigned to Stephen Doss, the leader of two of the NGOs – also head of research and development at Khairy’s wife’s (Nori) organisation, Penyayang.

Considering that the notorious Stephen Doss was involved, I would not even be surprised if the turn of events had been conspiratorially pre-arranged by him and Khairy. After all, Stephen is famous for his talent of aligning himself or betraying his sponsors from all sides of the political divide.

I can claim to know Stephen quite well – not only for his attempts to align to me during the early days of reformasi (perhaps because he thought I was an ambitious politician with money to throw) but also because he was my student in the graduate program on Civilizational Dialogue at Universiti Malaya.

Eli Wong, in her blog, asked the pertinent question of why Khairy and Pemuda Umno, for the resources and the cash that they control, must hijack other people’s show and not organise one for themselves.

To which, I think, the answer is quite obvious: If Khairy can have the services of the best organiser, or organisers, that money can buy, then would it not be better for him to use the services rather than organise the event himself?

Had Khairy and Pemuda Umno initiate the event from the start, then the whole thing would have appeared hollow and hypocritical. After all, is Pemuda Umno not aligned to a government whose hands are stained with the blood of the people of Burma through its support for the oppressive military junta?

Moreover, who would take seriously a Pemuda Umno’s initiative in defending the people’s right to freedom and protest, when it is part of a government that uses police brutality (even live bullets in the case of Batu Buruk) to suppress its own people who hold peaceful demonstrations?

Isn’t hijacking an event that have already been initiated by someone else at the appropriate juncture a better alternative for the resource-rich and cash-strapped Pemuda Umno?

Dear En. Rustam, Khairy did not hijack the event, there is nothing to hide. I invited Pemuda Barisan Nasional to the event, Pemuda Barisan Nasional requested that thier Timbalan Pengerusi Barisan Nasional Khairy Jamaluddin be given a role as they would be mobilizing a big group. As the organizer I agreed and as planned Khairy was given the role of reading the memorandum, Ng Chin Loong from YMM to release the doves(pigeons) and the rest of the NGO leaders to hand the memorandum to the Burmese Ambassador. I can understand your bitterness and anger at the present government but they isn't necessarily a conspiracy under every rock.

best regards
Stephen Doss

A conspiracy does not cease to be a conspiracy just because someone decides not to call it that. When two parties quietly arrange to do something without the knowledge -- and agreement -- of the other parties involved, in my defition it is a conspiracy. And when one party involved in the conspiracy uses it to gain credit, udeservedly, for the whole event -- again without the agreement of the other poarties involved -- then the party has indeed hijacked the event. I thereby rest my case.

What Stephen Doss Say?

[Sources From TheStar - 31 May 2008]

Give Pak Lah The Credit He Deserves

IT is common knowledge and widely accepted that Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, or more fondly known as Pak Lah, is a nice man.

But it is quite disappointing that there are some political commentators who, while stating the obvious about Pak Lah being a nice man, then use this as cover to be overly and unfairly critical of the man.

Their playing to the gallery can be quite disconcerting. It seems that they think they can play both sides; praise Pak Lah for being a nice man yet at the same time please his detractors who allude that Pak Lah is inefficient, weak and indecisive.

Those who are unfairly critical of Pak Lah are conveniently forgetting the circumstances in which he came to office and the baggage that came with the position, as well as the prevailing culture in his party and the general populace at large.

Some people do not understand that Pak Lah was very clear about what was needed to be done after the 2004 General Election.

There was no mistaking what the mandate was for which were reforms - a change of how things are done in Malaysia after the last 22 years of the previous prime minister's rule and to a large extent the damage done by his maverick deputy Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who actively pursued an Islamist agenda to the detriment of a multi-racial Malaysia.

But Pak Lah is no novice politician. He understood the implications of rocking the boat; he was in fact an astute strategist who found ways to go about getting things done without needing to upset party members and civil servants who needed time to get used to the changes proposed, understanding their ability to change incrementally.

But on the other side of the fence there were equally astute adversaries who knew that they could use this knowledge to their advantage, although they themselves knew it would be impossible for any prime minister to effect the monumental changes required in the short time given to Pak Lah.

Many who know Pak Lah at close range would agree with me that Pak Lah used his niceness to his advantage and at no time was it his weakness.

The strategy to paint Pak Lah as a weak and ineffective leader began in earnest as soon as his predecessor found out that he would not be getting his way in many matters of state.

There was an organised attempt to politicise the most innocent of intentions by Pak Lah to effect change.

The economic corridors concept was an attempt by Pak Lah to respond to the needs of investors who found that Malaysia’s bureaucracy and red tape was preventing them from investing in the country.

Pak Lah realised that he could not change this in as short a span of time as possible which would have required acceptance by a civil service so used to the old way of doing things.

The corridors helped bypass these obstacles so that the civil service would not feel they were burdened with more work and allowing them time to get into step at their own pace.

The 2008 General Election result was a result waiting to happen in 2004, that is if Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had remained as Prime Minister.

I dare say we would have lost more than five states had he been leading the charge then for Barisan Nasional.

But 22 years of excess cannot be corrected in four or even eight years. There is the issue of habit or culture which needs deft handling and I dare say we have the right man in the right place for that now.

Each of his policy announcements was carefully crafted to address a particular deficit – whether it be social, political or economic.

But his enemies within the party and outside were busy working towards denying him the credit he deserved.

A smear campaign was launched to portray him as a nice man but not an efficient Prime Minister.

A concerted effort was made to tarnish him with the same brush of nepotism, cronyism and corruption that was used against his predecessor.

Those employing these tactics were well versed in these tools having been previously the targets of these same allegations.

Political commentators must be careful not to fall into this trap or perpetuate a perception that has been deviously nurtured.

It is to Pak Lah’s credit that today we have a vibrant democratic environment for reforms to take place.

This would have been unimaginable under the previous administration.

And Dr Mahathir's playing of the race card now is proof of this. And that is not being very nice.

Racist? What Racist?

I read with a sense of disbelief on what Stephen Doss had written about Pak Lah and Tun Mahathir in ‘The Star’ dated 31st May 2008. It is hard to believe that this man is the President of the National Youths Association of Malaysia. God saves all the youths in this country! Obviously he doesn’t read.

It is pure stupidity of the highest quality to say that BN would have lost more that 5 states had Tun Mahathir been leading the charge in the recent election (or 2004). Who is he trying to fool? The Malaysian youths or Pak Lah? For a man who has been regarded as one of the most brilliant leaders this century, Tun Mahathir is way out of Pak Lah’s reach. Thus, Stephen Doss writing is really confusing. It is as confusing as the decisions made by Pak Lah.

All of a sudden, there are people like Doss who are trying hard to downgrade Tun as a racist. The accusers who called themselves Malaysians are they, themselves racists with the pretext of being Malaysians. Well, if this is the way Malaysians think, it would be better for me to remain a Malay. You can fool some people some of the time but not everybody all the time. It is not difficult to see and think why people like Doss love the weakest leadership in the Malaysian post-independent history. Yeah, call yourself concerned Malaysians!

I believe (I might be wrong, unlike Doss who think that he’s 100 percent right) that at least 90 percent of the Malay in this country wants the UMNO president to step down because of his weak leadership. However this is what the opposition wants – A leader who makes mistakes all the time. And these reforms (as you call it) are taking place due to Pak Lah’s leadership? No, I can’t say that they are reforms. This is actually a case of people taking advantage when your leader is losing ground’. If you really think very highly of him, please take him because the Malay’s don’t want him anymore. Ask him to be the president of your organisation or any opposition political party you think suit him well. Who are you trying to kid about Pak Lah? The Malays are not that stupid to interpret the hidden agendas behind your article.

There are others like you. When the Malay leader is weak, who do you think will benefit? This is the perfect time to demand this and that. Am I right Dossy? And you know what? Ever since I was born, I was given a Malay name. People say that I am a Malay. I think I am a normal person, just like anybody else. However people of your kind keep telling me that I am a Malay with special privileges.

I don’t know what special privileges you talking about. I went to the same scholl. Well I went to the only school that I could understand the medium of exchange. You had and still have the choice of going to a Sekolah Kebangsaan or your Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan. And you dare calling Tun Mahathir a racist? When he was the Prime Minister he tried very hard to make sure all the children in Malaysia go to same school in the Sekolah Wawasan. He failed. Simply because there are racists like you who think that going to the same school is only going to make your lose your identity. Yes, your identity is more important that unity among Malaysians.

When the government introduced the New Economic Policy, the non-Malays thought that this was unfair. However, over the years it has been proven that the Malays are still way behind. Ever since we achieved independence in 1957, there has never been a single year where a Malay has been proclaimed as the richest man in Malaysia. Never! Last year, the highest the Malay could achieve was at number 8. He was Syed Mokhtar. I would not like to mention the names of the non-Malays who were way ahead because I am not racist like you.

I am saddened, to say the least, the attitude of the non-Malays have always been sickening every time there is a problem within the Malay community. You can deny it but a fact remains a fact. The non-Malays simply love to see the Malays drowned. Every time there is a feud between the Malays, a non-Malays would always be there to make things worse. The latest being the statutory declaration made by this PI whose declaration is full of blatant lies just to tarnish the image of Datuk Seri Najib in order to make sure that the Malays are totally destroyed without a strong leader. What makes it worse is that they would always support the weaker party whom they can take advantage of.

On the other hand, the Malays have always been keeping a distance when there is a conflict in the non’s community. I remember when there was a big row between the top MCA leader, Tun Ghafar Baba stepped in to be the mediator. When there was a conflict between Datuk Seri Samy Velu and M.G. Pandithan, the Malays stayed out from the feud. In fact the top leadership in UMNO tried very hard to patch things up between the two. There become part of the family in BN.

The non-Malays know very well that a huge majority of the Malays are not in favour of the present leadership. I believe this is a problem that should be solved by the Malays. The nons should stay out of this because they are not sincere. Don’t interfere with the UMNO’s wind of change that are going to take place.

To Stephen Doss, my advice would be-look yourself in the mirror. The word ‘racist’ is written all over your face.

Tuan Keldai Dan Tuan Unta Yang Bijaksana

Skandal Keldai Dengan Unta

InsyaAllah.
